In our spring newsletter we indicated the CMS 2008 upgrade was on schedule for a December release. This upgrade scales up Truckwin32 Dispatch and Accounting to run on three database platforms: SQL server (Microsoft’s most powerful database engine), Mini-SQL (Microsoft’s midsize data engine) and Microsoft’s Access database. This upgrade will scale any user up to the most powerful Microsoft platforms.

if all users upgraded to the new software, users would become the largest private national network of independent carriers accessible from one internet site simultaneously and interactively. This upgrade includes the redesigned Shippernet.com to make it an integrated load and equipment board for users. Building a private network and adding integrated logistical opportunities and value to our users through technology has always been the primary motivating factor for CMS in the development of the Shippernet.com integration with the Truckwin32 product. We believe we are much closer this time. How can NationalTransportCarrierDirectory.com help carriers & shippers?

In a broad sense, integrated logistics, is the procurement of transport carrier services for shippers. Logistics can be nonasset based (generally meaning without owning tractors and trailers) or asset based (owning or leasing tractors and trailers). Integrated logistics most always involves the application of information technologies to coordinate the transport of raw materials, parts and other inputs to distribution centers, factories and retail stores as well as rate negotiations with transport carriers.

Over time, each user will see opportunities to promote and use a private network concept to add value to a shipper’s transportation needs. When these opportunities develop, we will be more than happy to assist you with the applications of information technologies that may be required.

National Transport Carrier Directory

We have completed the Internet Directory for our Network members. Since completion, Google and Yahoo search engines have been increasing the number of hits on the Carrier Directory. This can only be good for your company as it is one more place where shippers can learn about your services. It also has been very helpful for explaining to internet inquiries what the network is and who can directly connect to it.

The directory contains the MC (Motor Carrier) number and the DOT (Department of Transportation) number for each carrier along with a link to www.Safersys.org, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. This site maintains the database record for safety and insurance coverage for every carrier. Therefore, a shipper can quickly review safety and insurance records.
